Screenshot-2015-10-06-12.11.54October is a month known for pumpkin patches. Light sweaters and FALL! Many people celebrate birthdays, custom parties and Halloween. Isn’t that lovely to hear? People celebrating life and traditions? What most people don’t know is that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this campaign was created to increase awareness of the disease. You may think that most people are aware that cancer exists but most forget to make an early detection plan.

breast_cancer_awarenessThe American Cancer Society states that “Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States (other than skin cancer). But millions of women are surviving the disease thanks in part to early detection and improvements in treatment.”

Early detection should begin in their 20’s, all women should be told about the breast self-exam (BSE) and even the women who choose not to BSE know what her breast looks and feels like so if any changes occur she should immediately know. Women with breast implants and women breastfeeding can also examine their breast regularly.

cancerResearching and being aware of any changes in your body and also new changes in the research and technology can help save your life, a friend’s life, or a family member’s life.

Anyone can contribute in the fight against cancer whether it’s volunteering your time, participating in an event or donating to the cause.
